HOW DO DESICCANT AIR DRYERS WORK?

Desiccant air dryers help keep the efficiency of your system working at top form. Compressed air needs to be dry in order to avoid damaging the air compressor itself. Excessive moisture in your air compressor system can freeze in cold environments causing blockages and disruptions to the system.

Meanwhile, moisture can also contain contaminants that will affect the quality of the air running through your air compressor. The excessive moisture in any manufacturing equipment can lead to rust, corrosion and long-term damage to the machine. A desiccant air dryer will help remove the majority of the moisture running through your air compressor so your production line keeps moving.

What is a Desiccant Air Dryer?

Desiccant air dryers work similarly to refrigerated air dryers in that their main goal is to remove moisture from the air within your air compressor. However, instead of cooling the air, these air dryers use a material called desiccant which acts as a “sponge” for removing moisture from your system.

How does a Desiccant Air Dryer Work?

Desiccant air dryers include two chambers that work cyclically to input humid air, dry the air, and extract moisture from the dryer. At any one time, both chambers are working through this cycle while your air compressor system receives continuous dry air.

Proactive Solutions to Keep Your Desiccant Air Dryer Running Efficiently

We recommend maintenance checks for your desiccant air dryers every three to twelve months as a proactive measure in keeping your system healthy and avoiding any unnecessary down time. At Aeris, we carry the following parts to keep your air dryers running efficiently:

imagesDesiccant

Over time this material can lose its effectiveness by absorbing too much moisture and will need replacement.

imagesAir Filters

Regular replacement will ensure dust and other contaminants don’t penetrate your air dryer system.

imagesValves

By replacing these regularly, the entry and release of controlled air remains efficient.

imagesDrains

Condensate drain systems remove collected water and condensate from the system so that the excess moisture doesn’t corrode or harm your system.
